Based in Kent in South East England, Sam enjoys creating pieces with a sense of fun and personality. Her work is created from flat slabs of clay, which is then pieced together into a unique item. Even though she uses templates to cut my clay, the nature of the process ensures no two will ever be exactly the same.
Sam has a love of pattern, and so draws her inspiration from this, along with textile design and construction. She enjoys playing around with dimension, meaning She often ends up making pieces which are short and wide, or tall and skinny!
After spending a short while attending pottery classes, a lot of her technique is self taught, or aided by the ever useful internet. She also works as a technician at a local pottery studio, which provides more learning and experience every day.
