The Speculating Rook

Anna trained in ceramics and went on to work as a sandwich maker, switchboard operator, bookseller, cleaner, gallery assistant, bookseller again, untitled rearranger of displays in the Whipple Museum, potter’s technician, adult education tutor and school art technician before finding her niche in a room with an enormous collection of mismatched textiles and an old sewing machine.

The Speculating Rook, home to textiles for the curious and discerning. A place where you can find beasts for every occasion – lobsters to long horned beetles, hares a speciality, all stitched using a Bernina 850 onto ancient wool blankets, transformed into cushions ready and waiting to be chosen for your sofa.
