Alison graduated in Graphic Design in 1990 from Northumbria University and now works as a professional freelance illustrator and printmaker. She lives in a village just outside Cambridge with her husband, two teenagers, three chickens and scruffy dog.
She designs primarily for the stationery industry and also produces her own range of prints and products which she supplies to a few select galleries around the country. Her printmaking work is inspired by subjects she sees on her daily walks with Ollie the dog; from skeletal winter trees to close-up studies of seed heads, birds and the Fen landscape.
She uses various techniques in her work including pen and ink, oils, watercolours and also combining hand-drawn images with digital technology. Her printmaking methods include collography, linoprinting and dry-point.
